Project: Together against violence and discrimination of women
Evaluation Date: March 2016
Report: [report link]
Lesson Learned:

The evaluators expressed concern that the local vigilance groups’ members were all volunteers and that this might affect the longer-term operations of the groups in Djibouti. Interviews with group members suggested that some groups had continued to work while others had not – a result of the volunteer nature of the groups and a function of the commitment and energy of individual members.

Project: Young Builders of a New Citizenship In Chad
Evaluation Date: December 2015
Report: [report link]
Lesson Learned:

Although more than eight hundred young people from Chad were informed about their rights and duties, the project did not lead to any changes in the youth organizations’ perception of how the voice of young people could be heard. Most of the young interviewees declared that there was no additional dialogue with authorities after the project’s termination.

Project: Initiative to Build Social Movements in Sierra Leone
Evaluation Date: May 2016
Report: [report link]
Lesson Learned:

The project could have been more effective by providing support to existing advocacy engagements by the participants (CSO and CSO platforms) platforms on the issues that were identified during the training sessions. Project funds could have been set aside for this purpose, which would have provided platform managers with an incentive to develop and implement strategies for engagement with relevant decision-makers. As it was, the platform leaders who became aware of needs and opportunities for advocacy were often unable to address these, due to lack of resources.

Report: [report link]
Lesson Learned:

Through participation in training sessions on advocacy and public information campaigns, members of the Citizen Participation Cells in Benin improved their ability to participate in the municipal decision-making process, to monitor the compliance of municipal investments – e.g. water and sanitation, education – and to put pressure on local politicians to carry out public hearings on budget policies.

Project: Honduran Youth for Democracy
Evaluation Date: February 2014
Report: [report link]
Lesson Learned:

The project created structures that could be both sustainable and replicable in other communities, however, they must still consolidate their position and strengthen their operating capacity to ensure continuity and maximize their linkage and influence on local policy. A strategy for strengthening the project’s youth networks and the Southern Youth Movement needs to be put in place that includes technical assistance for creating bylaws, bolstering strategic, administrative, and financial capacities, and offering advice and assistance to secure funding and logistical support.
