Lesson Learned:

The grantee was not able to provide indicators related to the number of leaders trained who voted; and no information was available to assess the impact of the messages delivered to the youth by the young trained leaders. In this respect, the grantee was very optimistic to consider that increasing knowledge would be sufficient to motivate and mobilize the young leaders, and by extension, the youth of Burkina Faso to vote.

Lesson Learned:

Project follow-up should have included applied research. The goal of such research would be to analyse critically and comparatively the various experiences and advances encountered by the project. This exercise should identify, in the context of a fragile democracy, the modalities and the possible alternatives for optimising women’s empowerment and guaranteeing as much as possible the application of the legal framework, as well as following up and carrying out the recommended support or judicial measures.

Lesson Learned:

The project sought to strengthen democratization processes in rural areas focusing by on regions with a fragile social fabric and weak civil society. In this respect the multiplication of training opportunities provided by programme graduates through their activities in their communities, further enhanced the project’s effectiveness.

Lesson Learned:

The grantee in Georgia did undertake a good internal monitoring effort to track progress of project indicators, but these indicators primarily tracked outputs. This project might have had more significant but these were invisible to the evaluators. Most of the information on higher level outcomes was anecdotal and without more data, it was not possible to evaluate to which extent results were achieved.
